Grounding done correctly - experiences?

Hello everyone!

We are currently having a terraced end house built in passive construction by the developer and are, of course, documenting this with a variety of photos. I am also keeping a small construction diary on the internet (I don’t know if I am allowed to link to it here) and have now received a notice regarding the photos that the grounding may not have been carried out correctly.

I would like to put this up for discussion here and am uploading three photos.

The first picture shows the area after pouring the clean concrete layer. At this point, only the black empty conduit can be seen at the questionable spot. In the second picture (shortly after laying the perimeter insulation layer and while placing the reinforcement steel for the concrete layer), it can be seen that there is now a grounding strip there, which is also visible again in the third picture after pouring the concrete.

My question now to the experts: does anything here indicate improper procedure? Should the grounding strip have already been visible before pouring the clean concrete layer?

I cautiously inquired with the developer and received the following brief information after consulting with the structural engineer: “The foundation earthing conductor was installed here routed through the base insulation.”

What do you think? Can it be “measured” with a device to verify whether this is correct?

Your post is somewhat older now, but I still want to add my two cents because I am currently working on something similar. It is correctly recognized that the insulation prevents the "electrical earth" from connecting the ground slab to the house. Now there are two options: either pour a conductive reinforcement over a large area in the leveling layer or make a ring earth conductor from v4A around the house. In no case would I recommend penetrating the insulation layer; instead, install an extra contact point in the wall. These are also pressure-tight for [weiße Wannen]. In extreme cases, your utility provider will come, measure the conductivity, and refuse you the power connection.

Best regards

Hello nille, The grounding strap serves to ensure the potential equalization, that is, an electrically conductive connection of electrically conductive components in/or on the building (water pipes, gas pipes, basically anything made of metal). This has nothing to do with whether the grounding strap touches the soil. On the contrary. The grounding strap eventually corrodes at the interface between the base slab and the soil due to the alkalis or whatever else present in the soil. What the guys did is fine. I just hope that in your case the transition from the base slab to the soil is permanently sealed.
