Hello everyone, we are currently planning our house. Now, it is the case that a house with a basement exceeds our budget. We have a plot of land that was developed by the municipality after the demolition of a daycare center. During this demolition, earthworks also took place. Now, the level between the excavated pit and the street, meaning also for a single-family house, is about 1.50 m difference. We do not yet have a soil survey because we are not yet the owners. The soil is probably clayey with gravel and sandstone deposits. Now my questions: can it be filled up enough to raise the level that much? Is that even structurally possible? Or is it then cost-wise such that the basement costs about the same?
