Hello everyone,

our outdoor facilities are now more or less finished and now we want to proceed. Since we are not really making progress with garden houses and now just want to ask a local carpenter, the next thing would be the greenhouse. Are there any recommended brands here that also last a bit longer? All the ones I have seen so far always had plastic panes - is that possible too?

Best regards

I have been working on this topic for two years
You mean the hollow chamber profiles. They make a greenhouse affordable.
For me, clear glass has the disadvantage, on the one hand the cost, on the other hand the risk of breakage. Also, you have to provide additional sun protection so that the plants don’t burn.
I also see the advantage of the hollow chamber profiles in that, due to the milkiness of the material, you don’t necessarily see the mess that is typical in active greenhouses.
If hollow chamber profiles, then at least 6mm.

But I can also understand if these greenhouses are stamped as cheap. Clearly, good greenhouses then cost several thousand plus the foundation, for that I am personally too stingy
If I can persuade my husband to build the foundation, I will buy such a thing for 4-500 euros. From my childhood memories, my grandpa had nothing else, and that thing got really old. Personally, with this cheap thing, I also keep these memories of the vegetable growing back then and my grandpa alive
If you want to know brands in this price range: I have somewhere the printouts of 4-5 that I once wanted to compare (must have been a year ago again... how time flies...)

Okay, that's already good to hear that the things are already effective. Both grandparents always had welded houses with glass - hence the skepticism. It has to be a foundation, or is the own weight enough? I mean, the ground is ground anyway.

While I'm already asking here.. we currently have a deep hole next to the path and I was thinking about just creating a pond there. Do you need electricity for that? (like a circulation pump) - or is there another way?

As far as I understand, there are foundations to buy that consist of a metal frame. These have a groove into which the panels are inserted. But we have lawn everywhere, which must then give way for this project. That’s what I mean.
I hope I haven't sweetened my memory for myself... Did these profiles even exist in the 50s/60s?
But anyways... I think you can't go wrong with 500, it won't hurt if you don't build anything for a year or two.

Regarding the foundation: just look at pre-assembled sheds in the hardware store.
