Good day everyone,

In our home, the living room is separated from the kitchen/dining area by a glass balustrade that serves as a fall protection.
As shown in the picture, the wall is to be built, and behind it, on the ceiling drop, the TV will be mounted later; thus, the glass balustrade lies directly in the line of sight from the couch to the TV.
There will be no handrail on the glass.

Since I am afraid that reflections of the TV image may occur on the glass in the slightly darkened room, we had the option of anti-reflective glass offered as an alternative.

Now the offer is here, and they want an extra €750 for the anti-reflective coating. Is that normal?

I am now wondering if this is really necessary, or if we could skip it?

Can anyone give a recommendation on this?

I also wonder if it really has to be laminated safety glass of 2x8mm ESG, or if 2x6mm would suffice and thus save some lead time?

Thanks for the help!

Best regards

When I am down in the kitchen, I have no problem with the TV reflecting in the railing.

I just don’t want to be disturbed by reflections/glare at the spot where the picture was taken from.
So while watching TV itself.
It would be a proper anti-reflective treatment, frosted glass was never planned.

I have no idea about the prices, but is there really no other option for the TV? Always looking through a glass wall... that bothers me, especially because somewhere the glass ends and you always notice an edge in your field of vision... that wouldn’t be okay for me at all, don’t you have any other place for the TV?

Wait, not through the glass. The railing is 1m high, the TV hangs above it. It's already planned so that it doesn't go directly through the glass. ;)

I'm just concerned whether the angle sofa - glass - TV might be exactly so bad that I see reflections of the TV image on the glass of the railing when I sit on the sofa.

Attached is a sectional view, then it can be better shown what I mean. The red lines to the sofa simply represent the sight lines to the top/bottom edge and center of the TV.
