For working, the sun from the north is much better because it never shines directly. Northern light is more even - admittedly weaker but glare-free.

I think your idea is very good, we will also use one (maybe even 2) garden houses as a workshop and tool shed. I don't know how much and what you "tinker" with; my husband works with different materials and has always had his workshop in the garden house in the past. Therefore, we will continue that based on the good experiences. In my opinion, an above-ground workshop is preferable to a cellar.

Unless the basement with the workshop has direct access to the garden. That's how we planned it, and it's really optimal. Not to mention that even in the coldest winter, the workshop still has around 15 / 16 degrees without additional heating. In the garden shed or garage, you would have to expend a lot of energy for that.

Not much work has been done (at least so far). So far, mainly simple things are planned, like repairing the bike and waxing skis. The rest will surely come along on its own when there is something to do in the garden, the carport needs renovation, etc.
