Oh God please anything but no plastic sheets in the fence.

1. so that the hedge doesn't grow through the fence so easily and so much and we have to trim it there (I know I could demand that the neighbor does it) 2. the hedge takes time to grow 3. privacy strips block the wind better (it's often windy here) fence will be 160cm high

Those are actually two aspects that definitely should have been included on the inside of this thread!

What do you mean by that? What advantages would it have for us if the fence posts are on the inside and what advantages would it have for us if the fence posts are on the outside?

He means the two quoted factors, which the colleagues apparently gathered from other threads, should have been included here in the opening post.

I still don’t know what to do

we have 2 options

1. We put the fence posts on the neighbors’ side, then it looks better on our side because we have the smooth side without posts

Advantage: you can place something directly against the fence (e.g. raised bed) without any distance to the fence or interruptions because of the fence posts

2. We put all the fence posts on our side, then we have the fence posts on our side

Advantage: if the neighbors ever sell the house, it gives the impression that the fence belongs to us, since the fence posts are on our side. Then we don’t have to forcibly prove that we paid 50% for the fence back then, in case the new neighbor tries to tear down the fence or replace it with something else

What would you say, which option would you choose (our current neighbors don’t care)
