Hello,
We are currently considering how and whether we want/can build new. On a plot of land where there is currently an agricultural building, a single-family house and a new agricultural building (machine hall) are to be constructed. Alternatively, the two new buildings could also be combined into one building. For example, the rear part could be used for agriculture and the front part for living. Could such a construction project also be supported (e.g., KFW300)?

What do you think would be more sensible regarding costs, funding possibilities, taxes (machine hall is a business expense), etc.? The floor area of the machine hall would be about 250 - 280 sqm, the residential building about 80-100 sqm.
There is basically enough space on the property, also for 2 separate buildings.

That's more a question for the tax advisor.

Of course, I have to talk to the tax advisor. But maybe someone has already had a similar project or experiences/ideas and can share something. So that I am not completely unprepared.

Even I occasionally have gaps in forum overviews, but I do not consider this likely. I see it the same way. If I understand correctly, it is about an answer to the question of whether specifically "living and working under one roof" would be supported. Because I can hardly imagine that the residential part would benefit from funding opportunities (including depreciations) of the commercial building part. On the contrary: before I would assign the firewall between both partially to the private sphere, I would rather accommodate both functions in separate buildings. Nonetheless, I do not want to rule out funding specifically for the union in a common building: perhaps there is some landscape image or regional tradition conservation program aimed at preserving the typical Wolpertinger Einhof that history-conscious tourists love so much. Whether the Ministry of Agriculture or Tourism would be the contact, I am, however, uncertain. But such nonsense does exist seriously, including the requirement of a wooden shingle facade and special permit for a tiled stove, if it is in the parlor with a built-in corner bench. Did you think of something like that? Or maybe the Ministry of Family also supports short distances between changing table and cowshed for "fathers and farmers (m/f/d)" within the framework of the initiative "Work Life Balance 21" from joint funds of the German and Austrian governments. But as I said, concrete cases from the forum would at least have passed me by.

Thank you for your detailed answer with entertainment value. But honestly, I have not yet thought about such specific things. It is neither an outdoor area nor is there anything related to monument protection, nor will any animals be kept; ultimately, this is about a "multi-purpose hall" for machines and storage space, as is common in rural areas. My concern was rather whether a "standard" program like KFW300 can also be used for such a configuration regarding the privately used residential space, or how the separation/distinction between private and business is handled here. So if the private part, for example, makes up 30% of the building, do I then also get 30% in funding, do I need, for example, two separate invoices for the roof tiles, etc.? Or is a program like KFW300 simply not possible for such a building project. I understand that this is overall very special, and I also have not found anything about it in the forum. But a) if it were simple, it wouldn’t be worth asking and b) maybe there are "rather quiet" lurkers or people who have had something similar in their circle of acquaintances or something like that.

Google "Klimafreundlicher Neubau - Förderfähige Maßnahmen und Leistungen" and take a look at the information sheet. It contains everything you are asking here.
