Hello everyone,

my windows and the front door have now been measured (town villa) and the installer said about the front door if we are sure that we want a side light here. He himself would widen the door a bit and dispense with the light.

here is the door as it is planned now:

what do you think, is the light too small and would it look strange and a wider door would be more comfortable and "nicer" here?

Regards
Mateo

As long as your door has a normal size that allows comfortable passage, I would leave it as is because that way you get the most light into the hallway

So you mean that the 21 cm glass portion will not look strange? The door would be 95 cm standard size for now.

Here again is the exterior view (building first without the canopy):

We have decided to place the light on the left and not on the right, here is the ground floor:

When I look at the dimensions, it won’t be 21 cm, more like 15. Whether an additional light strip or glass cutout is "needed" in the door naturally depends on how the hallway/vestibule is illuminated. It can’t really be judged as is. But a lot of light (bright) always looks friendly, so please add a light strip; even the 15 cm will make a difference.

I forgot to mention, a light strip will be installed in the door if the side light strip is omitted. As you already said, the installer specifically pointed out that it would probably look very poor with the small light strip. Light should come in, but of course it shouldn't look strange. do you think the 15cm will make a difference and still look relatively "good" visually?

Best regards

Unfortunately, you can't see the floor plan completely, so you can only guess. In the first 2-3 meters of the hallway, it doesn't look like there is any other light coming in. Then you also have an entrance canopy. The hallway will become a dark cave. I think the 15cm light strips wouldn't be enough for me. I don't think it would look odd visually, of course that also depends on the design. Personally, in this case, I would also widen the door (a wider door also appears more spacious) and consider, if possible, leaving a somewhat wider light strip than 15cm (i.e., in the door). 15cm doesn't let in much light either.
