The elongated shape would not change if the kitchen and couch area are swapped. We are considering raising the ceiling height a bit, which might help with that. I believe it can already be cozy as a TV/lounge area, thanks Willi, nice to read that it works for you.

I think you are right. I don't really find a living space under 4 m wide nice, but it is the lesser evil. A large kitchen and dining area is really great.

Quite simple, the houses are each offset by about 1 m. I guess a few centimeters would be invisible there.

The room would feel even more tubular if you raise the ceiling.

I am also a kitchen enthusiast, but I wouldn't rule out now that a kitchen with a parallel counter isn't worse. If it stays like this, I would move the living room window, possibly add a narrow strip of light (horizontal or vertical).
