Hello everyone,

we are planning an open U-shaped kitchen for our new apartment.

We basically want to use third-party appliances.

Here are some questions:

1) Which fridge/freezer combination would fit into the 220cm high cabinet? Do you have any recommendations? And what about the door fronts? As far as I can see, the upper door would open the fridge compartment part of the fridge/freezer combo AND the upper storage space of the tall cabinet. Is that correct? So if I only want to open the top compartment, the 240cm version would be the only option.

2) The oven should be built high into the tall cabinet; as far as I have read, there are usually fewer issues with fitting ovens into Ikea cabinets. A Neff or Siemens oven is planned here.

3) For the induction cooktop (80cm, Siemens), it is planned to place it centered between two 80cm cabinets. Has anyone done this yet? Does it work? I assume you have to cut out the side walls a bit for this? What does the area below the cooktop look like? Undercabinets with drawers are supposed to find their place here. Is there a free space reserved for the induction cooktop?

The extractor hood is supposed to be a headroom hood.
The sink should be one from Schock made of quartz composite, with the dishwasher underneath. Is there anything to consider here besides the fact that the dishwasher must be an XXL model with a vario hinge?

4) Lighting. We saw the following solution at Ikea and like it very much. However, I don’t quite understand how the flush solution is implemented. The lights are usually constructed so that they sit on the bottom cabinet. Do you have an idea of what exactly is needed for this?

Have I forgotten any other essential points we should think about?

Many thanks in advance!

Hello, I have looked at the planning.

1) see IKEA expert
2) I would swap the fridge and the oven cabinet, then you can put a baking tray from the oven directly on the worktop next to it.
3) for the north side, I would suggest from the right:
40 cm cabinet for base cabinet with waste system
80 cm with hob (also fits exactly under the extractor hood) and you only lose the top drawer in one cabinet
20 cm
80 cm (the corner cabinet is removed)
4) see IKEA expert,

also, your sink base cabinet has one too many cover panels on the right.
Does it fit with the window and the tap?

Hello and thank you very much for the answers.

IKEA expert: you're right about the refrigerator, we will first choose one and then see how it fits in. Of course, I meant to install the dishwasher under the draining area of the sink and not directly under the sink.

Schmidti82:

The position of the oven was deliberately chosen this way. At first, we also had your idea, but in our opinion the refrigerator makes more sense inside. For example, when coming back from shopping and unpacking everything on the countertop, the path to put things away in the refrigerator is shorter this way. Also, the coffee machine will be in the free corner on the left and the handle to the milk is more practical this way. Since the refrigerator is generally used more frequently from this area of the kitchen than the oven, it makes sense to us.

Regarding your layout of the north side, I think it would be very busy. The kitchen is open to the living area and a certain symmetry should be present so that it looks good later. Moreover, you wouldn't really gain anything with the 40 cm and 20 cm base cabinets. Both corners would then be unused and where should the pots go?

Thanks for the tip about the end panel!

Do you have a few pictures of the planning? The planner does not run on Linux.

Hey and thanks for the explanation. The thread on the corner topic is not really convincing, though. At most, we could fit an additional 60 cm cabinet by omitting the corner cabinet, but on the one hand, pans with long handles don’t fit well there, and on the other hand, the 60 cm cabinet disrupts the symmetry in the base cabinets as well as the symmetry of the wall cabinets to the base cabinets, in my opinion.

Regarding the refrigerator, the following Siemens device is under close consideration:

Do you think the device fits into the 220 cm cabinet?

IKEA expert: Here are the photos from the planner. As mentioned, the induction cooktop should be between the two 80 cm cabinets, which the planner does not allow at first.

The combination fits in the cabinet with doors 80 140 or drawer 20 doors 80 120. I am always amazed at how little the freezer is used nowadays and how much space in the refrigerator is needed.

I find it better to store the pan directly accessible in the cabinets under the cooktop. I don’t see how a 60 cm cabinet should change the symmetry; the corner cabinet also has a 60 cm door.

The two individual wall cabinets seem confusing to me. I would have extended them up to the tall cabinet.
