Fine plaster on dispersion paint?

Hello everyone,

I have a (maybe silly) question, but I have to say the master google doesn’t help me and I ended up here in the house building forum.

Does anyone know if this can be done?
I have a wall here, or rather a plastered drywall panel that is painted in bright red and I would like to apply a rough plaster on it, about 2mm. Fine plaster.
My question: Will it stick to the red, 1mm thick paint slurry, or will it just fall off again????

What I am willing to do is, if necessary, paint over it 3 times if the red color shines through....!

Or in short:
Can I apply a finishing plaster on a painted wall????

I am a layperson (Laie, weiblich.), but I have already painted many walls and also worked with textured plaster. At this stage, I knew nothing about primer or other obstacles and simply plastered over painted walls (dispersion). It lasted for years! :)
Nothing showed through either.
However, it may have been thicker than rolled plaster?, so 2mm...
Dispersion paint does form a bond with the wall, right?
I must also say that these were normally plastered walls.

I would dare to try it. If it is too large an area: just try in a corner or narrow side wall and wait 3 days... fiddle around to see if it crumbles ;)

Can I apply a finishing plaster on a painted wall??? Sure, no problem, paint the wall or ceiling with concrete contact (possibly prime 2-3 times beforehand), then plaster over it. It is best to create a test area and observe how the material reacts.
