You can see inside (if you’re lucky) roughly where the pipes enter the house. If you already want to expose the basement walls, careful digging/shoveling is advised. Do you still have electricity/water connections outside the house? But very important: If you dig up and find pipes or lay new pipes: TAKE LOTS of photos. They can be very useful later on
