Dear Passive House,

I fear it will take a very long time until you truly find what suits you. In my experience, one has to swallow one or the other toad. With the commitment to a district and relatively little equity as well as an already high energy standard, it certainly won’t be that easy.

Says Sylvia, who, for certain reasons, depends on an inner-city location and had to search for a long time

I still cannot understand your approach. You start with the last point, namely house hunting. But you should first organize your finances! A minimum of more equity and a bit of Riester pension does not change the entire starting position.

I’m happy to repeat myself, but you simply have other problems first: the income is good, no question, but for your income you simply have far too high living costs to be able to buy a house with the rest. And you are completely inflexible. You can be inflexible, but then the corresponding money must be available, because then it’s not so bad if the desired house is a bit more expensive than planned. If you are inflexible for health reasons, that is understandable, but then you have to plan enough time, as Computersylvia wrote, because it can take several years and in the worst case you might not find anything at all.

Why does it have to be your own house at all costs now? Start from the beginning: Increase your income by, for example, doing KV shifts and/or your wife going to work (and yes, I believe that with a bit of organizational skill, especially if you have regular working hours, that is possible, and your wife can certainly earn more than 450€ with a part-time job)! Lower your living costs drastically (which I see as the hardest point)! Be flexible!

If you change even 2 of these points, then owning your own house can certainly be realistic, and then you can start searching. At the moment, however, I still see it very pessimistically!

Hello,

we are already looking at where we can save, want to improve the salary situation, and initially only want to search for/buy a plot of land before calmly moving on to the topic of house construction.

What I would wish for is an independent professional advisory service that accompanies us individually from start to finish and double-checks everything (financing, selection of plot and house builder, contracts, etc.) before anything is signed.

Who could we turn to for this?
