I was able to shut down the interim/almost-GC from the beginning of last year without a lawyer. In the meantime, one has learned.

We actually wanted to do some cleaning today and take care of smaller things like cleaning windows and checking for scratches (in the ground floor some deep scratches on the outer frames, picture attached).

Instead, we discovered the next defect and once again fell into shock and lack of motivation.

Under our cold roof, moisture accumulates to such an extent that a puddle forms above the vapor barrier. This means the insulation wool is probably already thoroughly soaked. We still can’t access the cold roof as no BET has been installed so far. I can hardly imagine that it is raining through the roof, rather that the vapor barrier is leaking and during the screed drying process plenty of moisture was pushed through? Accordingly, there are concerns about mold on the roof trusses. I am trying to stay calm and am once again filing a defect report.

Have a nice Sunday evening everyone!

P.S. aside from that: Did I mention that someone ran into my car on New Year's Eve and fled the scene? It really should be sunny again soon!

Oh man, when things go wrong, they really go wrong. But it has to get better again at some point! Two months ago, a left-turning driver crashed into our Vito. We were completely blameless, repair costs over €10,000 and vehicle value according to the opposing insurance €3,800, so a total economic loss. But that's not true, because it can be replaced for not less than €8,000. The car is now standing in the driveway and cannot be used because it is not roadworthy. But I can’t have it repaired either. So we need a lawyer again. Does your comprehensive insurance at least pay?

Could it be that the roof membrane is not watertight if the water is above the vapor barrier? We’ve had that too. And also the leaking vapor barrier. You can take a look at the pictures in my thread "Drywall and vapor barrier done differently." We had the entire drywall redone. I can understand how you feel. At times, I didn’t even want to go to the construction site anymore. I think from that perspective the painting consultant doesn’t make sense anymore. You need someone who looks at the whole mess and can also put a price on it financially and get used to the idea that moving in will be delayed, even if it’s hard.

Surely no consolation, but our first move-in date would have been April 2019 and the next November 2020. Now we are at April 2021 and that is still not certain.

sorry, my condolences! It was also mentioned somewhere before: Expensive material (Würth sealing tape) is not a guarantee for correct installation. To me, it looks pretty botched. But I can't see any details on how the cables are ultimately sealed or taped off from / in / around the protective conduits. The correct method is probably cartridge sealing compound around the cable INSIDE the protective conduit, protective conduit itself sealed! bonded to the vapor barrier. It looks quite wrinkled and carelessly (insufficiently) pressed on. :(
