This is due to production. A few months ago, I visited a factory in Simmern where it was clearly demonstrated why one side is smooth and the other rough. Meanwhile, there are band rolling mills where both sides come out equally smooth; however, that is still quite expensive.
On the other hand, I don’t find that problematic for a basement; after all, it’s not the best room in the house and even then there are good plastering techniques that can make a wall constructed this way look really good

Yes, I can only say okay to both topics and confirm that. One side rests on the mould support and the other is vibrated, so one side is not quite flat or as cleanly smooth as the other. Yes, and as you say, it is and remains a basement
The pictures from the OP really shocked me, and even more surprising is that this quality apparently is adhered to here or is presented as the ultimate.
