That’s also my experience, you just have to heat the stove like a locomotive, then the glass will burn clean as well. Or simply wipe with newspaper, works very well.

That's how I do it too, but first with newspaper. Final cleaning with a paper towel. The first step is always vacuuming the door from ash. (And before that, laying newspaper on the floor).

Our stove has a control for primary and secondary air. The secondary air ensures an airflow at the glass to minimize soot buildup. Last winter, we used it almost around the clock. The glass was then cleaned maybe once a week.
