Hello,

we have now been living in our house for a few months and have also been using the wood-burning stove due to the cold season.
It is the model Hark 112 Ecoplus.
Since we are still beginners in this area, I would like to know about your experiences with cleaning the glass.
Currently, we are using firewood from the DIY store. As you hear, this is not the best. However, we currently lack dry storage options for other wood, which is often delivered only in larger quantities.

Almost after every use, the glass is quite sooty and needs to be cleaned. Is it the same for you or are we doing something wrong?
It is quite laborious to clean the glass after every nice fire.
I make sure that the logs are placed as far away from the glass as possible.

Best regards
Freedark

Add more air, then it won't soot. Is that hardwood or softwood? How dry is it really?

I already gave a lot of air during the last fire. But actually, you don’t want to rush the wood through the stove too quickly. Well, I can only quote in good faith from the note on the wood: Hardwood and residual moisture probably <20 %.

Put enough wood on, then open the air supply fully and light it with two or three wood wool firelighters. How to light it properly, you can google with "Kamin anzünden - so geht's richtig". Then it should burn without producing much soot.

But you have already checked the air supply, right, so nothing is clogged. Forgot building materials or something like that.

And see if you can get someone with a wood moisture meter. In the end, the logs might just not be dry enough.

I do believe that you are too stingy with the wood fire.

Wood wants to burn, and if it’s hot enough in the stove, then even the soot will burn off.
Have a cubic meter delivered of wood that has been dried in a pressure chamber. Just cover it with a tarp. Wood wants to be stored outside.
My husband cleans the glass about every 6 or 7 times.

Yep, about every 10-15 times, I already have a noticeable buildup of soot on the top left and right. But not so much that it would be bothersome.
