May I ask how much extra cost that incurred? Or do you have no comparison to KfW 55 or Energy Saving Ordinance, since you have been at KfW 40 from the start?

I can’t say that exactly. My goal has always been KfW 40. When the first calculation wasn’t enough, we made the externally applied wood fiber insulation board thicker. But so many changes were made, and the construction company (our site manager, who handles everything) changed the carpentry before the construction started with us. Then we switched from mineral wool to blown-in wood fiber insulation.

When I read this, I get dizzy. Pure eco lobbying! Only the craftsmen and the insulation industry benefit exponentially. The builder pays the bill. For us, the surcharge was >7000€, with expected annual savings of 35€ compared to KFW70. Everyone can calculate for themselves when it will pay off. A little tip: never...

I find this statement very exaggerated. It always depends on the case. In our timber frame house, for example, we were already at KfW55 because the timber frame must have a certain thickness for structural reasons and is therefore already quite insulated. For us, the external wood fiber insulation was then made thicker. That certainly did not cost an additional 7000€. And between KfW55 and KfW40 there is also a 5000€ higher repayment subsidy. So even if the measures had cost 7000€ more, you would only have had to pay 2000€ more due to the increased repayment subsidy, and you have a quality house. The issue of the ventilation system is something else, but we wanted that anyway. If you don't want it and only have to install it for KfW40, it certainly is not worth it.

How do you determine that the house is of higher quality? What is a €5000 repayment subsidy worth if the money is financed externally? You still have to pay interest, for at least 10 years, if not even 20. And the energy consultant you need, have you also calculated and externally financed that? You can do KFW55, but you don’t have to. Great for the feeling, less so economically.

And when you consider that you can achieve almost the same values without the [Klimbim]... and as I said, for fifty bucks a year? Doesn't make sense
