Expanded clay: advantages and disadvantages, thickness, suppliers

Are you newcomers? - the natives in the Eifel and the Pellenz all the way to the Neuwied basin have had the practical experience of preferring this local building material for centuries. I myself also live in it, monolithic, even 30 cm due to the year of construction. I am not aware of any significant differences to expanded clay (from the perspective of residents or users). Under the microscope ;-) there are some, but you don't notice them in everyday life. You would do well to follow the suggestion of the shell builder (see "11ant Steinemantra").

In the Eifel, this still seems to be a common building material, as the shell builder also confirmed.

"Very well insulating" needs to be qualified a bit. Lambda 0.10 is okay. Ytong ThermStandard has 0.09, ThermSuper reaches 0.08. Poroton achieves similar values with its insulating bricks.

Do you have to do that if you achieve at least KfW 55 with this "bad" stone (according to your statement) without external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS)? Then the S-Class is also okay - because there is still Bentley and Rolls Royce.
