Happy for you.

I find the development with you very interesting because in your situation you are very comparable to us both financially and geographically. And things are looking great for us at the moment as well.

And because it simply shows that the general tone of some people here in the forum is often wrong: you have to have changed your lifestyle years before building a house and as soon as you have six-figure equity sums (no matter where from) you are beyond any doubt about how to handle money.

It is much more about looking into the future.

I definitely keep my fingers crossed for you. With your secure professional background, I have no worries...

Congratulations! Be glad that you did not let yourselves be lulled by the naysayers here in the forum. It is hardly possible to save up against the price increases of recent years. If the house/land fits and the financing is possible, then go for it.

In 2017, I had the opportunity to buy a great, large single-family house in Strausberg for 350,000EUR with a lot of effort (including mortgaging my parents' house), but I had no equity due to a late career start after my studies and only KFW debts. I then did not do it (after reading too much here) and I still regret it today.

Well. Basically, it is good to hear critical voices as well. In the end, the decision always has to be made by oneself and with personal responsibility.
That you decided against it back then was your personal decision.

As long as the discussion is factual (usually the first 3-4 pages of the threads), everything is fine.

What I don't like is when someone is denied a responsible handling of money because they don't have six-figure equity.

And from that, such absolute statements are concluded:

Too often, one's own life model is assumed, and people cannot imagine that others can manage house construction/purchase with different life courses and backgrounds.

You have only bought the plot for now, but are not building yet? Definitely great that you found something. Good luck with the project!

A little update again: we have now handed over the house after a fairly relaxed construction period and are currently doing the own work (floors and walls). Fortunately, we were able to estimate the ancillary construction costs quite well and have not experienced any negative surprises. In February the garage will arrive, after that paving will be done. That means next spring we will start repaying. We were also able to steadily increase our equity to about €25,000 to comfortably design the outdoor areas, buy the kitchen, and have funds for other factors, which always add up.
