I do not understand why this is being commented on in such a provocative manner. The pipes are already old and the material does not flex. The pipes are now supported much less on the side and slanting downwards. Even if the soil is piled up again, it is no longer as compacted as before. To me the question does not seem unreasonable at all.

Did you allow the neighbor to create his excavation pit on your property?

I also ask myself whether your neighbor has permission to remove soil from your property.

If the pipes are already old, I would take the opportunity to replace them now.

What worries me more, however, is the house, which must also be standing somewhere there. How far is it from the excavation pit, and have appropriate safety measures been taken?

Then I also wonder whether the tub that your neighbor is having installed there ultimately stands on your property or not.

Hello,

I could have replied in the same way as "Voki" did in a paper roll thread aka roof insulation; but would you have preferred that?

What do you mean by the material "does not flex"?

If the pipes are very old to you, they are probably clay and sooner or later a renewal will be necessary. So the question should rather be, does it make sense to take advantage of the open trench for cost reasons.

So he is building with a basement.

Why? Do you live in a semi-detached house?

Rhenish greetings

An excavation exceeding the property boundary by a maximum of 20 cm was agreed upon. At the moment, it might be 1 meter. I have no problem if he builds a house, but apparently, this is being brazenly exploited. At the moment, only my mother lives on the property. My mother is already older, so it seems likely that he expects little resistance. Our house is further back on the property. I don't really see a problem there.
