Earthworks: Are the prices from the general contractor okay?

It was purely hypothetical. I just wanted to say that the complete service is always meant: delivery and installation, excavation and disposal, etc. In this respect, the excavator hours are simply not clear!

Regarding the excavator hours: Maybe for unforeseen things, such as removing a few concrete chunks/stones that are in the way. Or pulling roots. Is the construction fence included with maintenance? Or only assembly and disassembly? (Is the fence required at your site?)

The price includes holding. Whether it is necessary, I cannot judge. I would say "no" since there is no pit but filling is done. But the construction company probably wants to be safe.

Would you consider the price for the earthworks + for the fence as "okay" under these conditions?

So for general contractor prices, they are okay according to the available data. Surely you would get it cheaper on site from a small wage contractor, but the effort and risk would be too great for me with a general contractor.

Still to be clarified:
Do you need the fence?

What happens to the stored topsoil? Do you need all of it for your garden later or will you have to laboriously remove the topsoil past the house later with small equipment?

What about the foundation excavation?

Thanks again for the feedback!

I agree with that!

The fence is probably not absolutely necessary. But if the general contractor insists on it, it will probably be difficult to do without it. They probably just want to be sure...

The soil can easily be spread around the house. Since no foundation excavation is necessary (a load-bearing slab will be used), the earth masses will probably be limited to the topsoil.
