Hello,

Drinking water pipes are to be routed above the floor. simple question: Should these be installed in the insulation on the raw floor or in the underfloor heating/screed (above the studded panel)?

Structure: concrete, insulation boards, underfloor heating in studded panels, screed

Best regards

It is correct to put it in the insulation.

Why should it go into the screed?

As RotorMotor writes, into the insulation.

It doesn't work any other way – hot water pipes have to be very well insulated, so they don't fit anywhere else anyway. And on the other hand, you don't want a cold water pipe in the heating(!) screed.

The argument from the person who wants to put it into the screed is that it is more accessible in case of emergency. But I agree with you, they will be laid in the insulation.

That would already exclude the craftsman from the selection for awarding the contract. If he already suggests such nonsense, I don’t want to know how he will implement it. Oh yes, how thick is the screed supposed to be according to the craftsman? You always need a certain coverage over the pipes. That will be a thick screed – if it’s even properly feasible. If he now lays cold water over the underfloor heating, the cold water will always be properly warmed in winter. On the one hand, you won’t get cold water from the tap initially, and on the other hand, you’re inviting legionella. The more I write, the more I have the feeling a bus driver is at work here...
