Dear construction professionals

My wife and I are planning our new build. Now I want to install a drainage system. Unfortunately, I do not know how much is actually sensible. Is it enough to lay a drainage all around the house (sort of like a moat)? What about the garden? I have a garden behind and in front of the house. Or should I lay pipes in a serpentine pattern throughout the whole garden?
Thank you very much!

if your goal is to keep your house dry and to drain water around the house in a controlled manner, then please lay it around the house. But if you ask like that. You don't want to do it yourself, do you?

No, of course not by myself. But I would be interested in how water in the garden area, which drains poorly, is best drained.... so that I can avoid "Wassertümpel" in the garden.

But your house is not built yet? A soil survey exists?

No, everything is still in planning. I just wanted to be on the safe side.

I think Hornbach has a very good information page on this, which also clearly presents the differences between garden and structural drainage. (DIN 4095 for structures)

In my own research, I unfortunately couldn’t find out how much is really necessary.
For example, the DIN does not allow coconut pipes for drainage. However, 90% of garden and landscape gardeners will install exactly those for you. Whether and how filter fleece and drainage gravel should then be used also seems to be a matter of belief.
And as always, it is usually the interested builders whose systems have been in operation for a maximum of 1 year who discuss this. Unfortunately, experiences regarding how drainages behave after 10 years are rare.
If anyone has anything on this, I would also be very interested.
