hello,

What do you think, in the upstairs two children's rooms double drywalling (2x12), or is a single layer (1x20) enough? Also sound insulation in between, or is normal insulation enough? (Our bedroom is on the ground floor)

Why? Are you building in Chochstedt?

Rhenish greetings

No, 68 km away. It was just a discussion with my site manager, the question remained open. I have no experience. Always the same question, single-layer without sound insulation is cheaper than the other option. How much cheaper I don't know yet, first the question if anyone has already regretted having load concerns.

I would double-board (stability, crack formation). Whether this significantly helps with soundproofing is not so easy to say, the topic is a bit more complex. The wall obviously needs to be insulated on the inside and must be decoupled from the external masonry. Are sockets/light switches going in there? How are doors and frames planned?

Light switches, sockets - yes. I cannot yet say exactly how the frames will be mounted, I have not discussed these details yet. Here I trust the site manager. They are very simple Prüm doors, with a few stainless steel inserts. From my point of view, double is much more stable; whether the insulation makes such a difference with soundproofing, I cannot say.

The insulation contributes significantly more to soundproofing than the double boarding.
