Hello,

I am looking for a way to control a door (not a front door) electrically.
It is important that the door can be closed and opened remotely (and then remain open), without being on site.
Either via an app or, for example, with [Shelly], by switching the power on/off.

Otherwise, the door should function normally, either manually or automatically by impulse (when opening by hand).

Somehow, I have no idea. There are electric/automatic door drives, but I have not found any way to control them remotely.

Does anyone have an idea that I just haven't thought of yet?

Regards

Hi,

are you talking about a door with an electric latch that you want to open remotely? That wouldn't be a big deal. Or a door/gate with a proper drive that also moves the door leaf/gate? That is a big problem remotely. How do you want to ensure that there is no person/animal/object in the moving area of the gate? From a safety technology perspective, you would be opening a very, very big can of worms. In that case, plan directly for 5-10k€ for sensors, light grids, and the like.

Best regards,

Andreas

The area is under video surveillance. I just want to open and close a door for ventilation without, for example, having to drive by twice a day. However, the door should still be usable as a normal door.

Currently, a standard Geze door closer is installed. There are also electric door closers/door operators, but they cannot be controlled remotely.

We had this not too long ago in the company – in the end, our in-house electrician came up with a homemade solution using a relatively simple electric drive combined with a separately wired LTE module, since you cannot buy something like that pre-assembled. So in any case, it will be a DIY solution.

However, it was abandoned due to the aforementioned security concerns.

Wouldn't a core drilling above the door with a fan be the simpler solution?
Do you want to ventilate only temporarily or permanently?

It is a rental property, therefore no solution.
Only temporary.
