Soon the facade will be painted and we are currently researching different paint systems. We were recommended a facade paint based on silicone resin. We have some minor moisture problems on one side of the house (weather side) (paint was peeling off in places). I cleaned the areas with a spatula and repaired them with renovation plaster where necessary.
Now my question: The old paint is probably a normal dispersion paint. Does it make sense to use a silicone resin paint? For the newly plastered areas, the choice of this paint makes sense to me because it is breathable, but for the areas covered with old paint, this effect probably does not apply since the old paint seals everything anyway. This means the expensive silicone resin paint would completely miss its purpose in this respect... Or am I mistaken? Thanks for your support and have a nice weekend,
Torsten
