This is how it looked tonight No air conditioning Passive house Shaded - not so dark that it needs light This morning at 5 all windows open and ventilated thoroughly again
Two things: Air conditioners do not make you sick. If you overdo it and reduce the humidity so much through extreme cooling that the mucous membranes dry out, this can make you more susceptible to viruses or bacteria. But you still have to catch a cold somewhere.
And: I also like to ventilate. I need fresh air. But especially in recent weeks, ventilating here (in southern Germany) causes high indoor humidity (>65%). At such levels, even basically harmless 24°C is unpleasant and you "stick" during light activity. In such cases, I mainly use the air conditioner on a low fan setting to dehumidify. The temperature only goes down by one degree, but the 15-20% less humidity makes the difference. And unfortunately, floor heating cooling doesn't help against that.
In short: I would recommend an air conditioner in new buildings for everyone below 500 meters altitude (especially in older buildings). With a somewhat open layout, a small 3.5 kW indoor unit at the highest point of the house that runs as long as possible on a low setting. Then the house doesn't warm up at all and you get a comfort gain for ~€2,500 that you wouldn't have dreamed of.
Full agreement. We had air conditioning installed directly and are very happy with it every day. Electricity consumption in the hot summer of 2018... a ridiculous 700 kWh (on hot days/weeks it runs 24/7).
I have tried different Daikin models (5kW, 7kW, 9kW) and instead of Daikin I also have a no-name "KAZ" device with 3.5 kW.
Now I am considering installing the 7kW device in the ground floor.
For me it turned out that 2kW (FXAQ20PAV1) are completely sufficient per bedroom/room up to 25 sqm.
Partially, it looked like this behind the house:

And yes, same here, I have no regrets about the installation. But I would have been grateful if someone had told me during construction: "Run some lines for air conditioners into the walls."

Wow, I assume you got these somewhere cheap/for free? Or did you really buy 4 units? Were the lines compatible with each other? Did you install the air conditioning yourself?
