But that has more to do with the signal strength. It's not like with electricity, where too many consumers can cause damage; in the worst case, the picture in the second room is simply weaker. An amplifier can possibly also be installed in the apartment – two cables from the main distributor into the apartment only make sense to me if different data/channels are fed into the cables and you absolutely don't want one in the other room. It only makes sense to me if you want to bill separately, for example in the case of subletting/shared flat or commercial use.
But to be honest, I'm not a hardcore TV watcher – if someone stole my TV, I probably wouldn't notice for at least a week.
