Do you have to pay for the installation of a photovoltaic system yourself?

Hello everyone,

we are currently building a house through a developer with a photovoltaic system included in the house price without a storage unit. Through an additional offer from the executing photovoltaic company, I had a storage unit installed. This additional offer includes the registration of the photovoltaic system. I am supposed to pay the registration of the photovoltaic system amounting to 400 euros myself. Contractually, nothing is described anywhere. In the construction description, it only states that we will get a photovoltaic system with 10kWp.

My question:
It can't be correct that I now have to pay for the registration, can it?

Is the registration so complicated that it costs 400 euros? The actual registration is free of charge. But is it so complicated that it costs 400 euros?

I urgently ask for advice.

Best regards!

What exactly is meant by "Anmeldung"?

The registration of the photovoltaic system itself with the grid operator is indeed free – that is true. However, many specialist companies charge a service fee for the technical processing (forms, documentation, meter ordering, coordination with the grid operator), and 300-500 euros are unfortunately now common for complete systems. Whether you have to pay depends ultimately on your contract: If the registration is not regulated there and the developer is only liable for the 10kWp system, you can try to refer to the construction description and reject the costs – but this is not certain, especially because you have concluded an additional contract with the photovoltaic company.

You should separate what has been contractually agreed upon with the builder (general contractor?) and then what is stated in the additional offer. These are two different contracts with two different service providers!

What is not described anywhere is also not part of the contract. If it must be added to the utility connection costs, it must be paid on site anyway. Unless you have bought a house where all connection costs are specified and assumed by the builder.

You also have to be careful. The solar panels are only exempt from VAT when purchased privately. If it's done through the [GU], you have to pay extra. In my case, the [GU] said he coordinates it, but I have to order myself.

The registration in the master data register is simple. You can also handle the registration with the network operator yourself; depending on the network operator, this is sometimes easy, sometimes more complicated. In any case, you need an acceptance protocol from the subsequent master and technical documentation. That shouldn't actually cost anything. The 400€ seems high to me.
