District heating usage - Consumption and costs normal?

We pay about 100 euros per month for 220sqm and 2 people. It must be considered that one kWh of district heating provides more heat to the house than one kWh of gas. In our case, however, the basic fee is also 600€ p.a.

I need to take a closer look at the invoice later. I will probably end up around 600€. I think that's pretty steep.

Yes. But the difference is maybe about 5%. On the other hand, at least for us, we have to provide a 1000L buffer tank, which is around 70 degrees in both summer and winter and consequently causes losses.

Did you have a choice or was district heating mandatory?

In our new development area, district heating is mandatory. Although district heating was also recommended to me if I had the choice.

It is probably not unusual for gas or geothermal energy to incur significant costs after the warranty period.

It was not mandatory for us. But a natural gas connection was not offered. And the district heating connection including the transfer station had to be purchased together with the property. If this forced quasi-monopoly did not exist, I would never have chosen district heating.
