Hello everyone,

Over the weekend, I cleared about 35m x 2m x 5x hornbeam hedge on my undeveloped property. Mathematically, that comes to 350m³. It’s probably less if you compress the branches a bit.
I need the area for construction. Afterwards, the hedge will be replanted. But the clearing was essential for the construction.

My question is, where to put it? Of course, I can try to shred it with a hardware store chipper. But that probably takes quite a long time.
Do you have any ideas? The fire department no longer accepts donations for Easter fires. The recycling center also declines given the quantity.
Unfortunately, I cannot just place a container and fill it up for collection because my property does not yet allow for that option.

Thanks for your suggestions.

You can rent a large chipper. It costs €165 per day from us. Ad found on e-ka.

The chaff, if it survives the construction phase unharmed, is worth its weight in gold, by the way.

Thanks for the tip about e kl. I have actually found something that suits me. I will call there tomorrow. I forgot to mention that I live in Hamburg.

What is it good for then? As fertilizer?

That too, if you have had it piled up long enough. But you can also cover the soil around your plants with it especially during the growing phase; that keeps out heat and cold and retains moisture in summer. Besides, it always smells fresh and good, I think.
