Hello everyone,

I am currently looking for digital room thermostats for underfloor heating.
Which ones would you recommend?
It would be nice if they are programmable, but it is not absolutely necessary.
Thank you in advance!

We have some from Rademacher. But you can actually use any. On Amazon, there are visually nice ones for 30-40€. Remember that underfloor heating doesn’t work like a normal heater. I also thought programming accordingly would do something meaningful. Honestly, we only program the bathroom at 4:00 AM so that it’s comfortably warm by 6:00 AM. The rest of the house is always the same. When we moved in (January), we didn’t heat at all for 2 weeks because I wired the thermostats incorrectly. After 2 weeks, we still had a temperature of about 20 degrees in all rooms. The thermostats cost us over 1000€ in total and it’s completely wasted money.

Nothing more needs to be added to that.

In new buildings, a heating system is "smart" when it only needs to be set once and never touched again. Room thermostats are required by the energy-saving regulations for heated rooms, but they are unnecessary and can be deactivated. Alternatively, one can get an exemption from the ERR obligation and save money. My opinion...

This seems to be one of those quotes that everyone has been copying for years, but no one actually implements themselves. I haven't read of a single person who has actually applied for it and been officially exempted. Always just theoretical chatter. In the end, the tip providers usually end up installing some themselves (and possibly illegally shut them down after moving in) or simply don't install any and rely on the fact that no one checks anyway.
