Yes, we do. Really a great idea. Friends of ours with children are already looking forward to it....

@ everyone else:
Thanks for the suggestions. It will probably be a mix of slope stones and greenery. We also really like the idea of building a footpath or intermediate plateau halfway up. It also visually spreads out the whole thing a bit...

Hello Daytona,

a neighbor used rubble stones (graywacke) for slope stabilization and planted greenery in between. You could plant an alpine garden there. However, that is a matter of taste and I don't know if it will be sufficient as slope stabilization for you. We will also set up something like that in small areas.

Regards, Rina

One could achieve a nice terracing with two dry stone walls (e.g. [Grauwacke]). This creates many possibilities for design including play areas for the children. We have 2x15m, each about 1.50m high. The stones cost around €4000. Then a bit of puzzling.

I would line the slope with rocks/large stones. Here and there, create small areas for planting to design a beautiful rock garden. The flat area would be ideal for a terrace. You could use really large and heavy rocks/stones as corner points to anchor a sun sail or an awning. From the top of the slope downwards, you would install a "wild" staircase to reach the lower area. From there, the rock garden can be well maintained. Towards the fence, I would plant shrubs such as currants. Ultimately, you can distill your own schnapps with them or make your own juice or jam. I would then continue the path a bit more wild/rustic and finally let it end at a swinging bench that is somewhat hidden among the shrubs. The swing is, of course, only interesting if it is not directly visible. An alternative would be a small pond or something similar. Maybe also a grill area somewhat off to the side. Otherwise, before concreting or paving anything, I would let it grow wild to some extent. Personally, I always find properties with elevated planting very beautiful to look at, and I also enjoy it when several animals (birds) have a home on the property.
