Hello everyone,
currently, my roof, which has already been covered, is bothering me a bit. After I wanted to inspect the work of the roofers and walked around the scaffold around the roof once more, I noticed that on many roof tiles, spots of the red clay base show through the slate gray engobe in places. They are only small, about the size of a pinhead, but there are very many of them and quite regularly. I also tried to wipe the tile with a wet cloth because I thought it was "clay dust" – which, however, turned out not to be the case.
The tiles used are the Plano 11 model from Koramic/Wienerberger. I could not see these spots on other engobed tiles from the same or other manufacturers and am now worried that these might be production defects. This whole thing annoys me a lot since the tiles were not exactly cheap and I am absolutely not convinced of the quality. To me, it looks as if the engobe was "applied too thinly."
Do you have an assessment of this matter?
Best regards
Lu
