Hello everyone, our roof was tiled. When we looked at the roof, we saw numerous tiles with minor to major damage (chipping) (attached are a few examples). Our property developer says that roof tiles belong to coarse ceramics and that chipping up to the size of a 2 Euro coin is permitted. The roofers now want to paint over the spots so that they are no longer visible visually. Is that normal and do you know where I can read this regulation?

Are there so many bricks with larger chips that relocating them might not lead to your satisfaction? I did the same myself on our roof. They hardly take any notice of that, which is annoying. I quickly read something about 7mm regarding chips. However, I consider that too general to be applicable at all. Painting over (with what?) probably wouldn't last forever either. The question is, do you see the spots from the ground, or is it generally about the durability or the temporarily impaired coating properties? Sure, moss tends to settle more quickly there, but not significantly. *Edit: These "sliding scratches" are to be accepted, they disappear quickly.

Unfortunately, there are really many bricks (in some rows none are affected, in others almost every one) and it is also visible from the ground. But we are particularly concerned about durability. I am somewhat worried that the chippings will get bigger over the years, e.g. due to moisture and cold in winter, and that we will have to do touch-ups after every winter.
