Hello,

I installed my extractor hood Udden HW 320 today, which I would like to operate in recirculation mode. I have installed a suitable activated carbon filter, but unfortunately, the switch cannot be changed from exhaust mode to recirculation mode. It sticks, and I am afraid of breaking it. Has anyone experienced similar problems and has a tip? What would happen if the switch remains on exhaust mode? Is that perhaps not a problem as long as the carbon filter is installed?

Thank you very much and best regards,
Grotho

Hi,

what kind of switch do you mean??? At the front of the control???

Basically, if a charcoal filter is installed, it runs this or all Ikea hoods automatically on recirculation, done. Since the Udden hood does not have a flue, it is - at first - designed for recirculation anyway.

Regards

Na.

Hi Na,

thank you for your reply. I mean the internal switch directly on the motor. See point 13 on page 15 of the manual:

Hi,

hm, to be honest, I didn’t know the switch until now. Basically, I don’t think it really matters, there is only this one motor and the air can’t go anywhere else. So just leave the switch as it is.

Could you please connect the hood and use it while cooking? If you feel that it doesn’t properly extract the odors despite the charcoal filter, please call the manufacturer’s hotline, not the Ikea hotline. The number should be included in your documents. Since you have a warranty, they will send a technician very quickly to take a look. Please don’t try to force it yourself, if the thing breaks, there might be issues with your warranty claim.

Regards

Nayla

Hi,

I have the same problem right now, bought the hood last week. Since the hood didn’t ventilate particularly well, I suspected the switch, it is also set to exhaust. The switch is connected inside to an air flap or something similar, which also cannot be moved (you can reach it with your fingers but can’t see anything). The joke is: In my manual, picture 13 with the switch doesn’t appear at all. Maybe it has been redesigned. But since, for example, the drawers are also no longer properly explained how to remove them, I suspect IKEA is protecting its customers a bit too much from breaking the sensitive products again right away

I know such a flap adjustment thing from an older Bauknecht hood. You had to apply some force because it snapped firmly into place, as the flap is supposed to stay in its position.
