Hello,

I bought 8mm stick mosaic tiles and now have serious problems breaking them straight with the normal hand cutter. When I try to break near the ends, the thin sticks often break on the longer side.

Would you buy a wet cutter for about €160, or keep trying like this? To be honest, I don’t even know how the pros do it. Do you have any idea?

I already had problems when I applied the tile adhesive horizontally and noticed that the strips of the stick mosaic fold into the grooves and therefore don’t become 100% even. Now I apply the adhesive vertically and make very small waves so that the tiles don’t slip. But everything is quite difficult.

I would appreciate tips and tricks. Stick mosaic isn’t as easy to find online as normal mosaic or tiles.

Best regards
Stefko

Just use an angle grinder, tile setters use that too. With a bit of practice, you get perfect cuts – but please watch your fingers, the angle grinder goes through like butter. For pressing down, you can also use a flat object (e.g., spirit level, board, or similar). Good luck!

Really? Why does he take the angle grinder and not a wet cutter? Is something like that unnecessary nonsense?

Why Flex? Because it is much easier and above all much faster for such tiles (and mosaics and corners etc.).

The wet cutter is used more for tiles that can no longer be cut dry, such as thick/large granite tiles.

Well, a wet cutter is actually just an angle grinder with water cooling ... to be honest, I don't trust myself to get the hang of that and maybe also cutting other fleece with the angle grinder. Besides, then I at least have a frame and don't have to work with a lot of dust on the floor.

I just thought there might be another device and that this is really too much for my 3 rooms.
But thank you very much.

I bought a device and I think it is really very good. For 160 €. Since a tile costs me about 18 €, it is also cheaper if the cuts are straight right away and I don’t constantly break everything or cut crookedly with the angle grinder... from my experience!
