Hello everyone! I need the help and opinion of experts: We are laying tiles in the kitchen on the wall in the format of approximately 30 x 90 cm in the area of the cooking surface as an eye-catcher. These tiles are printed in the style of small-format vintage tiles and therefore need to be cut as much as possible in the area of the "printed" joint. It is an old building, the wall to be tiled starts next to a door and ends with a corner, around this corner tiling will continue into a niche, where cutting is no problem. However, the corner is fully visible, just like the wall where the tile begins. Now the tiler starts on the right at the corner with the tile and it should form a finish with the kitchen base cabinet below. I hope this is clear so far, and now comes my question: Should the tile end before the end of the kitchen cabinet, or should it overhang a little? Or should we cut right through the decor? In any case, we have to make a compromise, but which is the best? I am grateful for any opinion. The tile is antique grey by Porcelanosa and it will actually be tiled 4 tiles high, as mentioned, as an eye-catcher. Thank you very much!

I would measure it! Basically, the direct finish should probably look best, but only if it doesn't leave a very awkward leftover piece. So only a very narrow strip of a partial design. If you have at least half of one of these "partial tiles," I think that should work. Otherwise, I would rather tile beyond than stop, for example, 5 cm earlier.

Have you perhaps considered using Schlüter rails as a finish on the side and on top, or will this be covered anyway?

My feeling was also more towards letting it protrude a bit rather than stopping in front of the cabinet. My husband thought exactly the opposite ;-)
According to the measurements, it will probably be like that; the tile would protrude about 2 cm, which is still okay, I think. When cutting in the middle of the decor, it would actually be only a narrow strip of the design.
We want to place a rail at the corner where tiling goes around. To the left of the door frame, the painter should work it in; it still needs to be painted and wallpapered.
We also wanted to skip a rail along the top since it is very high and no one looks directly at it. The tiles then end exactly at the shaft of the extractor hood (recirculation).

Best regards and many thanks for the quick reply!

I think with a 2cm overhang, I would rather go for cutting the last design piece in the middle and ending there after all. But honestly, if possible, I would pause that once. An overhang of 2cm could also just look like trying but not succeeding.
