Since 2011 things have finally been progressing, a lawyer has been involved and a court-appointed expert was on site, numerous pictures were taken of the damages and also core drillings (3x 16cm diameter) were carried out in the utility room. We are now waiting for the expert's report and hope that we will get the advanced money back and that the damages will be repaired as far as possible by the construction company. Does anyone know whom I could hire for the professional sealing of the drill holes? Thanks in advance I will definitely keep you updated on how this turned out. Best regards

Hello,

If the court, based on the expert's findings, comes to the conclusion that the cracks are currently not "normal" settlement cracks - AND you do not agree to a settlement, your contractual partner must close the drill holes as part of the renovation measures. I would advise you to wait for the final judgment anyway.

Rhenish regards

The repair work is now in full swing. Fortunately, the RA + court costs were covered by the opponent and the expert costs were covered by 50%. In addition, we received an extended warranty and a sum X for repairs. It was found that the floor slab is in order (using core drilling), but the screed was not properly dried and was already tiled. Additionally, the drying workers botched the job, resulting in cracks in the plaster. If anyone has any questions... feel free.

The core drillings are about 16cm in diameter and about 30cm deep - they had to go through the screed, through the floor slab into the ground. Afterwards, several pictures and measurements were taken and the tiler professionally sealed it again. The first drilling was done too close to the wall, then there was a short circuit and everything was dark here for a few hours until the emergency electrician came out. That’s why the elongated hole – they had to patch the cable and additionally chisel out more.
