Costs of soil assessment / geotechnical investigations

has anyone already conducted a survey of the property (regarding possible unexploded ordnance/duds)? How extensive does it need to be? Should we immediately hire a bomb disposal company or is an expert (engineering office) sufficient?

Makes sense for the geotechnical report, so yes.

In the soil analysis, I believe soil/excavated material is "collected" and mixed at some diagonal endpoints and analyzed.

Soil analysis and geotechnical report are two different things. You need the second for the structural analysis and ground treatment. The first one is for the landfill.

A question about the reports: Are they necessarily required for the construction of a single-family house? If the architect does not specifically carry this out or have it done by the structural engineer: Can I assume that a report has been made, or am I at risk that the structural engineer calculates with flat rates?
