But that can be completely different again in 5 years. Or you get different statements from various construction companies. Example: we obtained several quotes, sometimes a hip roof was cheaper, sometimes a gable roof, sometimes both cost the same.

And as already said, you can't build every house shape on every plot. With small plots (and those are the only ones you can get nowadays or that are still affordable), you quickly reach the limits of what is feasible with a bungalow.

For the record: I abstain from voting here.

A house needs a plot, but a plot is concrete and rarely allows all theoretical possibilities.
Furthermore, this is once again a contribution without a completed questionnaire.
Conclusion: 0 plot, 0 questionnaire. Three times zero is zero remains zero, and you cannot divide by zero. Done.

But there are many vehicles with endless option lists that are still significantly cheaper than some in the basic configuration. So, what good does it do when choosing/deciding?

You seem to have mistaken the forum, we are not in but in the general questions.
Which questionnaire do you mean?

Oh, sorry, I’ve only been here since yesterday :-( Well, of course I mean THAT questionnaire at the top of the floor plan section. I certainly do not mean the questionnaire from the FAZ magazine here. The one from Yvonne here - you can skip some questions if necessary - can be filled out even without a property. I am male, 53, without children - I already know that in the rental apartment. Always these smarty-pants.

My four not exactly small but recessed dormers have ended up costing around 30k. But it was worth it to me.
A normal gable dormer from roof frame through roofing including insulation, windows, exterior insulation and cladding, interior insulation, drywall costs about 8-12k, so you have a rough guideline.
