Cost of structural engineer single-family house

Are you building with individual contracts? Then obtain offers yourself and do not take the offer from the architect’s best colleague without comparison.

Are you building with a general contractor? Then do not hire a structural engineer, the general contractor usually does that themselves...

Are you sure that's only for the structural engineering? Or are other services included in the offer? Energy consulting, construction supervision, etc?

I currently have a few offers for a single-family house in Lower Saxony:
Structural calculation approx. 2500-3000€ net
Thermal protection certificate: approx. 650€ net

Definitely only structural engineering!

The following costs apply to us:

Structural design:
Approval planning & execution planning including earthquake verification and incidental cost flat rate (eligible costs 270,000 EUR)
Lump sum fee net 7,700€

KFW55 expert services:
Lump sum fee net 2,250€ (50% of which is eligible for funding)

Structural engineering was 1500 net with us, I believe. So intense, I would be interested in the house for that. If I put it into relation to the construction sum, your house would have to cost 8 million euros. :O

We also paid double, but ours has absolutely paid off. Here too, it is important to compare what he is supposed to do or whether it is just a fairly simple measure that he is supposed to implement. The price alone does not determine it here either, especially since half is reimbursed.
For structural engineering at 20k, I would also get an offer elsewhere or discuss this openly with my architect.

Regarding the current situation: we had the offer reviewed by our architect, after which the structural engineer immediately reduced the offer by €6,000 to €14,000. However, this was still too high for us and the whole process seemed somewhat unprofessional. A comparative offer from another structural engineer was €17,000. Subsequently, we asked another structural engineer from our area to provide an offer, with whom some acquaintances of ours have built. Today, he made an offer of €6,000 total costs. He will now of course do it.
