We are getting a gas condensing boiler in the new building. Now I have told the general contractor that I would also like to have three gas lines laid from the technical room in the basement:
[*]Line to the living room to connect a gas fireplace (~11m) [*]Line to the kitchen to be able to connect a gas stove if needed (~13m) [*]Line to the terrace to connect a gas grill or heater (~8m)
I have estimated the line lengths based on the plan. So it could be about 30m in total. The general contractor has priced a flat rate of €1,500 here. That seems a bit high to me. What do you think?

Apart from the fact that I would save on the terrace connection, since an 11kg gas cylinder lasts for several seasons for a grill... and a terrace heater also lasts at least 8 hours with it...

I don't necessarily find the price high...

Hi,

we obviously have very different grilling habits. An 11 kg bottle lasts us at best half a year...

And we still have a "normal" one with only 18 kW burner output. Grills with gas connection are usually a whole different league.

On the topic: 50 €/m doesn't seem completely absurd to me now, if the gas sockets are already included.
You write GU, so of course you can assign additional contracts to whoever you want. (Many GUs see this differently, but that's how it is. You are the client and that spells G-O-D.)
So you could ask the heating specialist if you could do it directly with him. That would eliminate the 10-20% for the GU.

If he doesn't want to because the GU forced him into a restrictive contract, you could still assign it yourself to a third party.

But the savings potential is limited. I wouldn't make a big fuss over a few hundred euros of savings.

Best regards,

Andreas

Well, a gas socket flush-mounted costs at least €100 plus VAT each, if I remember correctly.
You need at least 3 of them.
Besides, the entire cable is not laid completely on the surface. Also, you have to pass through the exterior wall at least once.

So, if you break down the €1,500, it’s actually a fair price.

Don't find it so bad either. The pipe is one thing, connections, shut-off valves, etc. another. Gas line to the grill, very good ;) 11kg for several seasons ... there are obviously different usage behaviors ;) (In general, the word "season" in relation to grilling says a lot :-))

I am actually a charcoal griller. The idea with the gas socket on the terrace came about because I am having a gas fireplace installed in the living room. And you can grill all year round. I even think gas is easier because in the cold you don't have to light charcoal and end up with all the mess... :p

But thanks for the opinions. Apparently, it’s not a bad price after all.
