Mixed construction method works without problems if you don't have a novice builder. It is quite common in our area since plots are as rare as a six in the lottery.
Semi-detached houses are best planned and built together with the neighbor.
A local company that knows the conditions on site would be my preferred construction company and more important than the choice between timber framing and brick on brick.
If you stick with timber framing – make sure the company plans the basement as a living lower ground floor and doesn’t just categorize it as storage while giving the empty space a fancy name like hobby room or fitness area. Also, the company should not demand the basement as a "bauseits" (to be provided by the builder) service. Furthermore, the general contractor should not get the idea to have a retaining wall created as "bauseits" and to build a slab house with a 1 m gap to the retaining wall. 1. You don’t have the space, 2. what are you supposed to do with the expensive useless pit that arises there?
No matter where and with whom you build. Write a detailed list of your requirements divided into must-haves and nice-to-haves. If a wine cellar is not listed, then you don’t need one. If you have one in the plan, the plan does not suit you.
Slope costs money. Excavation, filling, bracing, retaining wall, reinforcement, etc.
