Hello guys,

I need to have about 20m of corner stones installed.
About 8m with a height of 2.50m and then stepped down.
Now I was amazed at how expensive the material including foundation etc. is.

Here are two examples: (Height x Width)
2.50m x 1m corner stones - €595 net including installation of the stone
2.00m x 1m corner stones - €476 net including installation of the stone including delivery, concrete base and earthworks, 12cm thick corner stones.

My developer inquired at his building materials company and received the following material prices which he would pass on to me 1:1:
2.50m x 1m corner stones - €379 net (corner stone only)
2.00m x 1m corner stones - €219 net (corner stone only)

Is it normal to add €200-250 per running meter for foundation and labor?
What has been your experience?

Furthermore, I would like to know how you estimate the following prices:
- Drainage pipe made of KG pipe DN150 delivered and installed in a sand bed including fittings: €62.50 /m
- Drainage pipe made of KG pipe DN125 delivered and installed in a sand bed including fittings: €51.00 /m
- Excavation of trench for drainage pipe, lateral soil storage and backfilling: €42.50 /m

I was able to negotiate a 5% discount on all the above prices.

I would be grateful if you could give me your assessment of these prices.[/B]
This evening I will drive there again either to place the order or to discuss the prices once more.

Best regards
Tito

Hello,

depending on the conditions on site, I consider it realistic. You need heavy machinery to move such L-stones. It won’t work by hand. Renting heavy machinery alone costs €60-70 per hour for private individuals. Even if the company owns such equipment, the investment needs to pay off.

The filling/earthworks will certainly be costly as well. Will the garden be landscaped afterwards?

Our building materials supplier once told us that you should roughly estimate 200 euros per m² of wall for the materials. Regardless of the type and manufacturing. That’s about right.

I find the costs for installing the bricks and pipes relatively high, though. But that always depends on the local conditions. How much soil still needs to be moved, how is the backfilling done (compacted in layers?)?
You should alternatively get an offer from another civil engineer (have someone get one).

But always remember: quality costs money.

Hello,
thank you for your assessment.
No garden will be modeled, I want to expand my building area because we have a 2.50m drop from street level to garden level.
On the left and right at garden level, L-shaped stones will be placed and then filled and compacted.

For the filling and compacting, I pay 2400 €. Originally, that was 360 m³ of old cellar. The demolition was done by the same company.
The roughly 240 m³ still pending I get without extra cost, so then 600 m³ of well compactable material including compacting for 2400 €.
Thus 4 €/m³ including delivery, compacting, etc. If I hadn’t had demolition and earthworks done together, it would probably cost around 20-30 €/m³.

Unfortunately, the prices are "normal"

You will have no chance of finding cheaper ones for the L stones. The manufacturers have a monopoly, as my supplier says.

We paid about 4000 euros for approximately 7 pieces, stepped down from 2.8m to 2m including installation.

To reduce the material price, you can directly ask the concrete plant about 2nd choice.
