Hello,

I had an appointment today with the bathroom planner I trust. I am still a bit in shock because of the prices, hope that will pass.

I had originally planned a 120 * 90 cm walk-in corner shower with a 2-part sliding door. Something like in the attachment.

Now the expert explained to me that 120 cm wide with a sliding door is not recommended. Because of the fittings/hinges/etc., the entry width would be a maximum of 50 cm. That would be too narrow.

Is the lady right? She has now recommended one with a swing door, but since there is a 120 cm with a sliding door, I wonder if I should insist on that. Or go for 140 cm?

Best regards

Peter

Hello Peter,

Yes, you can spend a fortune on all those "accessories" ;)

That depends on which sliding door you have installed; attached you’ll find an example where 1.20 m is absolutely sufficient.

Meaning?

If you want to install a floor-level shower, I wonder why you want to install a glass element at all, or do you like cleaning? Attached you’ll find an example with 3 one-sided tiled privacy walls: no lime scale on glass and as a big plus, you don’t get chilly when you turn off the showerhead. Sauna towel on the floor before entering and splashes have no chance :D

Kind regards

Hm, the idea with the 3 one-sided tiled privacy walls has something to it. Thanks for the tip!

Hi! It's all a question of body measurements :D. Tiling on 3 sides is rather for dark shower users :). We have a similar setup, but with one fixed glass element. It’s cheap, easy to maintain, and splashes are limited. Entry width 40 cm in the guest WC, 50 cm in the bathroom. Best regards, TomTom.

Hello,

Nope, the 3 walls are not tiled up to the ceiling ;)

Kind regards

...and there is a triangular gable window (however, no longer as wide as in the illustration below)

I will think about the shower again over the weekend. On the other hand, I have another problem. I would like to arrange the toilet and washbasin under the gable window. Sounds silly now, but: I am missing a few centimeters. So the house would have to be a bit wider. Or is there enough space around the washbasin? I have already been "reduced" from a showy 100 cm washbasin to 80 cm, but if I want to arrange it like this, the washbasin will probably have to be even narrower?

Attached is also the architect's preliminary draft. I do not like the toilet in front of the half window. But at least we were able to "agree" on the location and size of the guest toilet...

Best regards

Peter
