Hello,
in a controlled residential ventilation system, the fresh air should ideally enter the bedroom and living room. The extraction takes place through the kitchen and bathroom.
Does anyone have experience whether the air distribution of the controlled residential ventilation is sufficient with an open kitchen towards the living area?
Are cooking odors adequately removed, or is a correspondingly large recirculation hood mandatory?
Does anyone have tips to consider during the planning phase, as we are currently planning a new build?
Many thanks for any contribution.

With sufficiently precise planning (air volume plan) and precise commissioning of the system, this should actually pose no problem, provided the entire process is supervised by an MEP planner. On the other hand, for an unchecked general contractor / general contractor assignment, I would have considerable "gut feelings".

Best regards

Well, I believe no HVAC planner can help with kitchen odors either unless you have such a high air exchange rate that you get sucked in. Recirculating hoods are mainly for grease.

When integrated into the exhaust air system, you can choose intensive ventilation for a short time and return to nominal ventilation after the "disproportionate odor generation" ends. Then you basically don't notice anything at all!

@Euro: Unfortunately, that was never up for discussion with us. We (unfortunately) did not think of doing that and have no idea whether the controlled residential ventilation (Stiebel Eltron LWZ 403) can’t do it because of the grease, or if our home builder just didn't care. He didn’t ask us if we wanted it. The idea would have been good a year ago Then we could have discussed it with the home's TGL planner.

Can a range hood with exhaust air be used with a built-in central controlled residential ventilation system? Of course, only during the generation of the "disproportionate odor generation."
