Hello everyone,

I have a question. About 3 years ago was the last maintenance of the Wolf cwl 300b

My heating technician/master told me two weeks ago that I can do the maintenance of the controlled residential ventilation myself…

I took it apart and could hardly believe my eyes

Somehow there was a lot of moisture and rot down by the water drain

I cleaned it up and made it dry and sprayed it with disinfectant…

Is that normal? And what is this little plate for? It was just lying there?

Thank you

Well, somehow it is moldy and dirty and everything... just kidding...

3 years is already quite a long time. So that's of course no surprise.

The manufacturer recommends flushing the heat exchanger at least once a year and also inspecting and, if necessary, cleaning the rest of the system in the process.

What you found there is the condensate tray. And of course, all sorts of things end up there including dirt and everything else. But since it is the drain, this is not a defect but the primary function.

The white curved plastic is clamped directly over the condensate connection between the two ribs to protect against coarse contamination and prevent clogging.

Hi
First of all, thank you very much for your response and the tip regarding the unit

I of course clean the controlled residential ventilation more frequently than every three years. At least where the filters are located. These are replaced every few months. But for the heat exchanger, the system states (depending on usage) every three years

But now that I know this, I will do it annually from now on...

So far, I have been using the regular g filters.

Does an f filter provide something better? Or the activated carbon filters? Are they "better" for the supply air?

You can see how it looks after three years. For that reason, no, rather yearly.

Activated carbon filters naturally help additionally with odor filtration. G or F is something you have to decide for yourself. The F filters obviously clog faster.

On the exhaust side, however, you can stay with G.

Hi
Many thanks. I will do it at least once a year from now on... it’s really not acceptable at all *yuck*

OK, then I will consider maybe buying the activated charcoal..

Thanks
