Hello dear forum,

we have been stuck in our planning for some time now at the point of ventilation and one question has not really been answered for me yet. I often read that with a [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung] only recirculation hoods in the kitchen should be used, but I wonder 1. why exactly and 2. what would happen if we combined a [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung] with an exhaust hood? What would that affect?

Thanks in advance :)

New buildings are airtight. If you install an exhaust system there, you create a negative pressure in the house, which can be life-threatening. The situation becomes especially dangerous with a chimney.

Of course, you can install an exhaust hood in the house, but you should then have a window sensor that only allows your exhaust hood to run when a window is tilted open. However, this completely disrupts the airflow concept of your [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung]. Today's good recirculation hoods usually have excellent performance. You just shouldn't buy the cheap metallic noisy light sources from Ikea.

You can do anything, whether it makes sense is another question, and whether the chimney sweep approves is another.

Hi, often it fails in the end due to the practical implementation because the installation height in the upper floor was not taken into account, which would be needed for the exhaust duct of the island hood below... For airtight designs, there are mechanical masonry boxes. A control with the [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung] is certainly feasible, but the planner must be knowledgeable, and this overall knowledge of all connections (floor construction, [Kontrollierte-Wohnraumlüftung], circuits for the electrics, fireplace regulations, airtightness concept, etc.) is rarely united in a single person.

hm, that probably won’t be the problem, for one the house person told us that the exhaust duct could be installed in the ceiling and then we also wanted to have the ceiling above the kitchen island suspended in order to integrate the lighting and the range hood there. We also had a mechanical wall box on the list.

I am really torn because I actually want an exhaust hood (I can’t warm up to recirculation, although a Plasmanorm filter was once discussed, but I’m not sure) and the controlled residential ventilation is currently a question mark, we can see some advantages in it, but do we really need it...?

Hello,

Higher temperatures and especially water vapor along with components in high concentration occur above the cooking area. This can lead to condensation and deposits in the exhaust duct.
Therefore, these should be well insulated and, in addition to filters, appropriate cleaning options should be provided.

Best regards
